Going back over a hundred years we find that Billy Chilton was living at 8 Cockhouse Lane with his wife Hannah. Meanwhile Isaac Wallace and his wife Rachael were at 8 Broom Lane Terrace.
Tommy Morris and his wife Jane spent sometime at 8 Ladysmith Terrace whereas Tommy and Mary Carling were at 8 East Terrace.
Do you recognise any of these names?

Isaac Wallage [not Wallace] was my great grandfather.more details can be found on the website Wallage.org.
ReplyDeleteThank you Mr Wallage for putting me right about your great grandfather's surname and please accept my apologies for the error. WB
ReplyDeleteI am confused. Issac was my grandfather and as far as I am aware my father was an only child, therefore unless you are my son(!) then how can Issac be your greatgrand father?
ReplyDeleteEdwin Wallage
My father was Joseph Wallage, his father was John Wallage, his father was Isaac Wallage. Youcan check the website at wallage.org. Isaac Wallage was my great grandfather, i think Isaac was married twice.
ReplyDeleteGeorge Wallage.
Hi Edwin,
ReplyDeleteGeorge (my Dad) has sent me in this direction as the family genealogist.
I suspect your grandfather was the second Isaac Wallage.
The elder Isaac Wallage was born 23rd December 1854. He married twice having 5 children with his first wife and 6 with his second wife. Isaac (junior) was his 8th child born to Margaret Anne Smith on 22nd Jan 1901 but died 8th May 1933.
Isaac junior Married Winnie McLane and had only 1 son William (so far as I have traced) who I presume is your father.
I have some photos including Isaac Junior and of the graves in Ushaw Moor if you want. Contact me directly on gary@quattrotech.co.uk
I am trying to trace my great grandparents and am thrilled to have just found a reference to Thomas Carling living at 8 East Terrace Ushaw Moor in the 1911 census summary and then your reference to Tommy and Mary!
ReplyDeleteAny further info would be gratefully received!
Thank you.
Edwin
