The football tables below track Ushaw Moor's football team in the early 50s. For those not familiar with football tables the figures, in order after each team name, represent played, won, drawn, goals scored, goals conceded, and points. I have not found any record of Ushaw Moor being in this league at any other time. Either way the tables are thanks to Mr Paul Stone. If you google:
Wearside League 1919-1960
there are some other interesting matters regarding that league as well as the formal web address.
The last thing I want is to lessen the impact of Mr Metcalf'e request because of it being geographically lower down today's posts - so do have a go at helping him.

Hi Wilf,I am sure Ushaw Moor were in the Durham Central league before joining the Wearside League. They had great support in those days'Ushaw moor were drawn against Sunderland Reserves in some cup and drew at home. Some 20 odd buses travelled to Roker Park for the return game. We got beat but put up a hell of a fight. I can remember Alan Lockey heading off the line from a Len Dunns free kick, then he collapsed. I wish my memory was better because "Those were the days". Cheers, Alf R
ReplyDeleteThanks abr. I have just spotted an error [re 1955/56] Ushaw Moor achieved 19 points not 49; there being 2 points for a win and one for a draw in those days.
ReplyDeleteThey may well have spent time in the Central League. I recall a cup final - Mackay's Sports Club[0] 5 Ushaw Moor [1] 1 played at Ferens Park Durham City. That is to say a bad second half for the Moor. Must have been about 1957.
