This is my first pigeon loft at Ushaw Moor,i took this photo of my cousin Alan Rothwell and Ray Pearson in the early fifties. I don not know how it got on here!!
Hi Alf, and thanks for your comments, I was looking thru photos I had on my PC under Ushaw various and came across this photo, I guess I must of downloaded it from somewhere,,, I hope u don't mind it being on here.
I don't mind at all Paul.I had to laugh when I saw it on here it was a bit of iglldy pigildy old Cree. The last one I owned was very modern on the allotment behind Whitley Bay Football ground.I used to work with Raymond Ayre and I can remember him playing for Whitley Bay many years ago.Ray married Moira Harwood and the last time I spoke with them was years ago in their house near Ushaw Moor cricket Club. I think Ray is on one of the Photo's in the Club House. Alf R
Hello Alf, I'm writing on behalf of Valerie Knox who was in the same class as Alfie Rothwell at school. I noticed you rreply about the pigeon cree and wonder if you have any old school photographs that might have your dad/grandad on? Val has mislaid her old photos and I'm trying to see if anyone can help with this - really hoping you can!
Hello Trina, There are some photo's on this site,(1) is THE WORKING MENS CLUB STAFF & OFFICIALS.(2) Durham Big Meeting where Valerie will recognise lots of Ushaw Moor people in front of the Banner. My father and mother are near the centre. Is Valerie still living in Ushaw Moor?. If you want to give me your email number,I might be able to send you a photo or two. Cheers, Alf R p.s i am sure Paul will advise you about sending a private message so no one else can read your email number.
