Ralph Cowell And Family

Back in the 1890s Ralph and Annie Cowell lived in Deerness Junction Railway Cottages. Ralph was a signalman on the North Eastern Railway. Living with them were the children - John, Charles, Ralph, Mary, Emily and Florence.

Does the above mean anything to anyone?

  1. I haven't traced this line of my family yet. My late aunt was born Edith Rose Cowell born 1935, father Robert Cowell who worked on the railways (died at Ushaw Moor aged 55 in the mid 1960's). Mother named Violet nee Currell from West Hartlepool(Father named James Currell). They had two other daughters June and Doreen. Violet died after the birth of Doreen aged 34. I believed that the family lived in a railway cottage close to Broompark. After Violet's death the Edith and June were raised by a Mrs Rixson in Ushaw Moor. Edith was a baker at Dents bakery. June married Jo Gallagher. Edith married my mother's brother, Billy Harrison in Dec 1956 at St Luke's, Ushaw Moor. They moved to Nottinghamshire in the late 1960's. Edith passed away in 1993 and Billy in March 2001.
