Harwood photos of Ushaw Moor Colliery

[gallery columns="4"]

In 1935 the Harwood family (Matt, Gladys & their son Bill) toured England. These are scans of negatives taken on that trip.

Show some photos of Ushaw Moor Colliery and surrounding area.

Thanks to Ken Harwood for allowing me to add these photos.

Check out his PHOTOS on his site on PICASA HERE

These PHOTOS are also found on the main Historical Site HERE

  1. I can't express how pleased I am to find a group of people interested in my family's snaps and able to provide some detail of their content. The negatives came into my hands when my father died in 2008 and it is very difficult identifying places from 75 years ago when you're on the other side of the world (Western Australia).
Grandad came from New Brancepeth which may be the unidentified colliery above.
Matt and Gladys visited England again in 1957 (photos at http://picasaweb.google.com/ken.harwood/1957#) and there are some more anonymous landscapes. I've identified them as Durham because I'm pretty sure they come from somewhere within the County, but Nanna and Grandad also visited the Lakes District so I may be mistaken. Any assistance you can render will be gratefully received.
