A Quick Word

Well how was it for you regarding the election? The Conservatives did not get the overwhelming victory thank goodness. I have always disliked their governments whilst having some respect for some of their voters. It seems to me - I would like to hear your view- that their failure to capture the imagination of the public is significant; despite years of Labour government, a world economic turndown and most of the press supporting them they are.... underwhelming!

  1. To be honest I was v surprised that Labour held in Durham. I really thought that the voters had enough of Labour put guess they still are valued here, although the Con would have more of a majority.

BTW This post may have been better suited to the Ushaw Moor Community BLOG rather than the Memories BLOG.

    Wilf,
Thank goodness I was in Malta over the past few days and missed the wall to wall coverage on TV and in the Press. I think people are cynical now of Politics and all the hollow promises given to ordinary people over the years. People are frightened of what the immediate future holds, redundancies, re-possession of homes and the additional tax burden that will be imposed on taxpayers. I was an active member of the Labour Party but I packed it in as I increasingly became disenchanted with their policies and their overiding the worries and wishes of ordinary people - the referundum promised over the Lisbon Treaty for example.
