On the 1891 census My ancestors the Vasey's were living at 22 Cockhouse lane, on the 1901 census they were living at 31 Dale st. When my Grt Grandad married in 1909 he was living at 343 Broompark. I remember my Grandad who was born in 1911 saying his dad was one of 13 children and looking at my findings he was right.
I wonder if there are any vasey's still living in Ushaw Moor today.
Regards Edward Vasey.

Good morning/day/evening Edward. My old mate John Vasey lives in Ushaw Moor and he is in the phone book. I am sure that there were more than one set of Vasey's in Ushaw Moor in 1901.Ofcourse he may, or may not be, a member of your family.

ReplyDeleteHaving read yours and Wilf Bells posts I believe we may be distant relatives.
I think Wilf is right in saying you may be related some how to John Vasey.
John Vasey is my uncle and still lives in Ushaw Moor.
The reasons I believe we could be related are as follows:
My Grandfather Norman Vasey was born in Ushaw Moor in 1915.
His father George Vasey had 13 children of which I can name two sisters called Sarah and Elizabeth and at leat two brothers George and Charles.
Of course there were more than 1 set of Vasey's in Ushaw Moor at that time but as most of my grandfather's brothers and sisters moved away I think it is very likely that your grandfather was related to mine.
I would really like to hear back from you on this and will ask my Uncle John for any extra information in the meantime.
Regards
Anthony Brown
