I decided to publish this for Brian Mc. If you are the same Brian, you lived near me when I was a kid growing up in Dale Street. My father was Dennis Dickinson and his family all lived in Whitehouse Court. I found this old photograph of My Uncle Sid's wedding at St Luke's in the last 50's. My aunt Betty and Uncle Tom are still alive. My uncle Tom still lives in the village.

Michael,
ReplyDeleteI am delighted that you have taken the time to post that photo for my attention. It has brought back a host of memories. My late eldest brother
Jim and your Uncle Sid were the best of pals. They both served their apprenticeship at New Brancepeth Colliery
together, Sid as a blacksmith and Jim as a joiner. Yvonne Mills, Sids wifes family lived in Harvey Street in New Brancepeth before the family moved to Whitehouse Court
Incidentally it was my brother Kevin who passed away a couple of years ago who lived in Dale Street.
I also was great pals with your Dad. The Dickinson family and my family members were the same ages so we knocked around together all the time. I worked for the same firm as yor Uncle Tom when we were serving our time as apprentices. We lived at 38 Victoria Court so we lived very close to your Grandparents and I remember your Granda and Grandma very well. He worked at New Brancepeth Coke Ovens. Please pass my regards to Tom when you see him.
Again Michael a very BIG thank you for brightening my day up.
Brian Mc.
